Freelance Content Strategist (Organic Search Team)

We are Semrush, a global IT company developing our own product – a platform for digital marketers. New stars are born here, so don’t miss your chance.  And we’re looking for a talented Freelance Content Strategist who knows how to create detailed SEO content briefs that help our writers write excellent blog posts.

Tasks in the role

  • Priority number one: Research and create detailed SEO content briefs for our blog writers, aligning each brief with our content strategy and goal of attracting organic search traffic via primary and secondary keywords.

  • Collaborate with our existing Content Strategists and SEO Managers to produce outstanding work and avoid potential overlap.

  • Audit existing content and plan new content by analyzing competitors’ tactics and our content performance.

  • Review content drafts for structural or SEO issues/opportunities.

Who we are looking for

  • Significant SEO knowledge. (Hands-on experience with advanced technical SEO tasks and workflows is a plus.)

  • Experience using Semrush tools and/or our direct competitors’ SEO tools.

  • Ability to create detailed content briefs and structural outlines for writers.

  • Great analytical skills and an ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Quick learner with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Combination of marketing and editorial mindset with a strong understanding of audience need and value-based approach.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Strong respect for deadlines.

  • Ability to take feedback and make changes as needed.

  • Professional network of content creators is a plus.

  • Additional experience in other marketing areas aside from SEO (like PPC and SMM) is also a plus.

Compensation

  • Compensation is per deliverable.

  • Pay ranges from $25-$100 USD per content brief and $5-$30 USD per SEO/structural review of an article draft, depending on your experience and the article topic and length.

Our aspiration is to make the Semrush blog the best place in the world to learn about SEO and digital marketing. And we’re on a mission to dramatically improve the quality of our blog content.

A “five-minute interview” or “get a job in three clicks” approach is not the way we work.

During the interview, we ask candidates to talk about themselves and their background in detail. We try to discover the most important aspects about the way someone works and their personality before a job offer is made.

Once the resume is received it will be reviewed by a member of the Talent Acquisition team. We try to provide feedback within three working days.

Flexible approach for an interview format

We’re flexible and open for both online interviews and personal meetings at the offices. Choose the option that’s most suitable for you!

In order for the online meetings to be productive, we suggest following these tips to make sure you are set up well:

  • Join the interview from a laptop or desktop computer (not a smartphone). You may need to print something or present your screen during the interview.
  • Please turn on your camera. Visual communication is especially important for us.
  • Choose a quiet place to talk. Attending an interview from the street is not a good idea.
  • Keep your phone at hand in case there are technical issues that mean we have to continue the interview by direct call.

Freelance Content Strategist (Organic Search Team)

Colleagues from this team are responsible for establishing marketing strategies and conducting market target audience research. They work with content, create and implement advertising campaigns through multiple promotion channels. The team is also closely involved with the Development, Design, Customer Success, and Sales teams. Web content, newsletters, banners, references in the media–all this is created by our Marketing experts.

The Marketing team is truly international and dispersed across the globe. But despite the differences in locations and time zones, our teams work tirelessly together on their common goal: to support one billion marketers in achieving their goals. Can we do it? Certainly!
