Head of Brand Marketing Events (Brand Marketing Team)

We’re looking for a strong brand leader who would scale our presence to new audiences and create a unique experience for them with a set of brand activations.
Who you are:
- You’ve managed large-scale brand activations that attracted millions of people, and you know how to tie it to revenue. Your experience lies in organic channels, creative stunts, and out-of-the-box campaigns, all executed by you and your team. You give reasons for people to generate the WOM. You know how social media works and know how to get the audience to talk about your brand.
Tasks in the role
- Create and execute an event-based marketing strategy including (but not limited to) our own in-person conference, online events, side events, and stage presence
- Manage brand activations, including Spotlight, our in-person conference, to grow it to a 5,000-people conference within a few years, ensuring on-time delivery and within budget guidelines
- Create campaigns and messaging that capture the hearts and minds of our users. Connect the emotional values of our audiences to the functional purpose of our products and transform this into immersive, engaging experiences.
- Partner with global marketing leadership to get buy-in and commitment from channel owners for campaign promotion
- Measure, analyze, and report on the success of campaigns in terms of business impact
- Build and execute the strategy for partner marketing and sponsorships
- Build and manage the annual budget, meet with the finance team to report and update on the spend and outcomes
- Manage a small team of project managers/program managers/campaign managers and a large team of external vendors
Who we are looking for
- 10+ years of experience in strategy and tactics for brand campaigns, both hands-on and as a team lead
- Experience managing brand campaigns with annual budgets over $10M/year (excluding the paid media spend)
- Demonstrated success in overseeing or creating rich and relevant brand campaign experiences
- Highly creative, ‘hands-on’ leader who embraces ambiguity and defines a way forward
- Strong results-based mentality, analytical skills, and data-driven thinking (must be comfortable working with numbers, metrics, and spreadsheets; reporting on the ROI of our efforts)
- Outstanding listening, interviewing, meeting facilitation, storytelling, and writing skills
- A leader who can inspire and direct a wider team that doesn’t report to you
- Excellent communicator, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders
- Extraordinary verbal and written English skills
- A strong mix between B2B and B2C experience is preferred

The Brand Activation Team is responsible for planning and executing brand activations and experiences, expanding the Semrush audience through organic channels, word of mouth, and thought leadership. We are on a mission to make the Semrush brand the first company people discover and think of when it comes to marketing and growing their online presence.

During the interview, we ask candidates to talk about themselves and their background in detail. We try to discover the most important aspects about the way someone works and their personality before a job offer is made.

Flexible approach for an interview format
In order for the online meetings to be productive, we suggest following these tips to make sure you are set up well:
- Join the interview from a laptop or desktop computer (not a smartphone). You may need to print something or present your screen during the interview.
- Please turn on your camera. Visual communication is especially important for us.
- Choose a quiet place to talk. Attending an interview from the street is not a good idea.
- Keep your phone at hand in case there are technical issues that mean we have to continue the interview by direct call.
Marketing
The Marketing team does much more than just promote and advertise Semrush products. They also inspire marketers around the world with their work.
Colleagues from this team are responsible for establishing marketing strategies and conducting market target audience research. They work with content, create and implement advertising campaigns through multiple promotion channels. The team is also closely involved with the Development, Design, Customer Success, and Sales teams. Web content, newsletters, banners, references in the media–all this is created by our Marketing experts.
The Marketing team is truly international and dispersed across the globe. But despite the differences in locations and time zones, our teams work tirelessly together on their common goal: to support one billion marketers in achieving their goals. Can we do it? Certainly!
